Dr. Lenny Roudner is a board certified plastic surgeon in South Florida. He offers a variety of aesthetic procedures to individuals who reside in Hollywood, FL and its surrounding communities. Furthermore, people from around the world visit the Miami area seeking his expertise.

Dr. Roudner has been performing breast enhancement procedures in South Florida for nearly 30 years. While he offers a variety of plastic surgery procedures, one of Dr. Roudner’s specialties is breast augmentation surgery.

A breast augmentation near Hollywood, FL can address a variety of issues, including breast reconstruction following a mastectomy or injury to the breast. In addition, a breast augmentation is frequently used to restore breast volume following extreme weight loss as well as pregnancy/breastfeeding.

A breast augmentation cannot correct pendulous/drooping breasts. However, these women can have a breast augmentation to add volume and a breast lift to address breast droopiness. In general, Dr. Roudner can perform both of these procedures during a single surgery at his surgery center near Hollywood, FL.

Just like all plastic surgery procedures, a woman should only consider having a breast augmentation as a means to improve her own self-confidence, not in an attempt to make someone else happy.

– these implants consist of a silicone shell that is filled with sterile salt water. Saline implants are FDA-approved for use in women of 18 years or older.

– these implants consist of a silicone shell filled with a silicone gel. Silicone implants are approved by the FDA for use in women who are 22 years of age or older.

– these implants are also referred to as form-stable implants. The silicone gel in form-stable implants is thicker than the gel used in the traditional silicone implants. Gummy bear breast implants are FDA-approved for use in women of 22 years of age or older.

During the initial consultation, Dr. Roudner will ask questions related to the patient’s medical history (including breast cancer, previous mammograms and/or biopsies). He will also need to know the medications, herbal supplements and vitamins that the patient takes regularly. Lifestyle choices are also discussed (smoking, drinking and/or recreational drug use). He will ask the patient why she wants to have breast augmentation surgery and what she hopes to achieve.

Once the examination is complete, he will recommend a course of treatment. Potential outcomes, risks and possible complications will also be discussed. Patients are encouraged to ask questions.

Prior to their breast augmentation procedure, patients will need to have pre-surgical medical tests performed.

Patients receive medications to keep them comfortable during surgery. As this is an outpatient procedure, a driver must be present on the day of surgery.

Incisions are placed in areas that will minimize visible scarring. Incision location is based on the type of implant, patient’s anatomy and degree of enlargement the patient desires. Incision options will be discussed prior to the breast augmentation.

Once the incision is created, the breast implant is placed under (submuscular) the pectoral muscle or directly above (subglandular/submammary) the pectoral muscle. The kind of implant, amount of enlargement and patient’s body type determines the method used for placement and positioning of the breast implants.

Dr. Roudner places layered sutures within the breast tissue. He then uses a skin adhesive, sutures and/or surgical tape to bring the skin together. Some patients may have drains in place, which help reduce inflammation by draining excess fluid.

The patient’s breasts are wrapped with gauze and a support bra/elastic bandage to minimize swelling, and provide the breasts with support while they heal. Results of a breast augmentation are visible immediately.

After several hours in recovery, the patient is released to her driver with instructions about how to care for her breasts, medications and restrictions, etc. Most patients will need to wear their support bra continuously for the first couple weeks following their breast augmentation. The swelling and soreness usually last for several weeks.

As each patient is unique, Dr. Roudner will release the patient to return to her normal activities and exercise routine when he believes she is ready.

Results are long-lasting. Initially, the incision lines are visible. However, these lines will fade with time.
