A Plastic Surgeon Who Specializes in Breast Augmentation Procedures Near Hialeah, FL

Dr. Roudner performs a variety of breast enhancement procedures. However, he specializes in performing augmentation mammoplasty (aka breast augmentation or breast implant surgery).

Issues That a Breast Augmentation Near Hialeah, FL Can Address

Dr. Roudner uses a breast augmentation to reconstruct the breast following injury to the breast or a mastectomy. Furthermore, an augmentation mammoplasty can be used to add volume to the breasts after weight loss and pregnancy/breastfeeding.

Some of the benefits that women who choose to have a breast augmentation with Dr. Roudner at his surgery center near Hialeah, FL receive include:

  • a nicer projection of the breasts, due to the added volume achieved during the breast augmentation procedure;
  • a figure that appears more balanced; and
  • improved self-confidence.

A breast augmentation can accomplish many things; however, it cannot correct drooping/sagging breasts. Women who notice that their breasts fall below their breast crease at the base of each breast can still have a breast augmentation. To address drooping breasts, Dr. Roudner will also need to perform a breast lift. These two procedures can be performed simultaneously at Dr. Roudner’s surgery center near Hialeah, FL.

Who Should Consider Having a Breast Augmentation with Dr. Roudner?

As with every plastic surgery procedure, an individual should only consider a procedure to improve his or her own self-confidence and not as a means to make another person happy.

A good candidate for a breast augmentation is a woman who:

  • has realistic expectations;
  • is healthy;
  • has breasts that have completed developing;
  • thinks that her breasts have lost volume and/or shape following pregnancy/breastfeeding, due to aging or after extreme weight loss;
  • has breasts that are elongated or appear malformed;
  • would like more voluptuous breasts; and/or
  • has one breast that appears larger than the other.

Breast Implants Available Near Hialeah, FL

When performing a breast augmentation procedure, Dr. Roudner has several breast implant options:

  • Saline breast implants
  • Silicone breast implants
  • Gummy bear breast implants

All three of these implants are encased in a silicone shell.

A saline implant consists of sterile salt water. These implants are approved by the FDA for use in women who are at least 18 years old.

Traditional silicone breast implants are filled with silicone gel and are approved for use in women who are at least 22 years old.

The last option is the newest generation of breast implants, these are referred to as gummy bear breast implants. These implants consist of a thick, silicone gel that maintains its shape (even when cut in half). These implants can be used in women who are at least 22 years old.

An Augmentation Mammoplasty Initial Consultation Near Hialeah, FL

To determine whether a woman is a good candidate for a breast augmentation, Dr. Roudner will need to know about the patient’s previous surgical procedures, medical treatments and medical conditions. He is especially interested in familial breast cancer risks, previous mammograms and/or breast biopsies. Patients need to provide Dr. Roudner with a list of their prescription medicines as well as herbal supplements and vitamins. He will want to know whether the patient drinks alcohol, smokes cigarettes and/or participates in recreational drug use. Dr. Roudner will ask why the patient would like to have a breast augmentation.

In addition, Dr. Roudner will most likely:

  • examine her breasts;
  • determine the patient’s skin quality on her breasts;
  • take photos to use as a reference;
  • take measurements and document the shape, and size of each breast; along with
  • making a note as to the placement of the patient’s areola and nipple.

Following the examination, Dr. Roudner will make recommendations related to which procedure(s) he believes will accomplish the results the patient desires. He will also address possible outcomes, potential complications and risks. Patients will be required to have some pre-surgical testing prior to their breast augmentation near Hialeah, FL.

A Breast Augmentation Procedure Near Hialeah, FL

All patients are given medications so they remain comfortable during their breast augmentation procedure. Since patients are released to go home following an augmentation mammoplasty, they will need a driver.

1. Making the Incision

Dr. Roudner takes great care to place the incisions for a breast augmentation in areas that will hide them well. The location of a patient’s incision is determined by the kind of implant she chooses, her anatomy and how large she would like her breasts to be. Dr. Roudner discusses the various incisions with the patient prior to surgery.

2. Implant Insertion

After making the incision, Dr. Roudner places the implant. An implant can be placed above or beneath the pectoral muscle. Implant placement and the method used to insert the implant are determined by the type of implant, patient’s body type and the amount of enlargement she desires.

3. Incision Closure

Prior to closing the skin, Dr. Roudner carefully layers sutures within the patient’s breast tissue. This provides support to the breast. Then he uses surgical tape, a skin adhesive and/or sutures to close the skin. Some patients will receive drains, which reduce inflammation by allowing excess fluid to drain.

4. The Breasts Are Wrapped

Gauze is used to wrap the breasts and an elastic bandage/support bra is applied to reduce inflammation, and provide support for the breasts as they heal.

5. Recovering from a Breast Augmentation Near Hialeah, FL

Patients remain in the recovery area for several hours following their breast augmentation. Once the patient is released, she and her driver receive instructions about medications, restrictions and caring for her breasts, etc.

The majority of Dr. Roudner’s patients will be required to wear the support bra/elastic bandage for several weeks after their augmentation mammoplasty. Breast inflammation and soreness generally lasts for a few weeks.

Patients are released to return to their exercise routines and normal activities when Dr. Roudner believes they are ready.

6. Results

The results achieved with a breast augmentation are visible immediately and are long-lasting. Incision lines will be visible; however, these will eventually fade.
